I would have rated this book 5 stars but the formating is not great. There is a great deal of repeated phrases and typos.I really enjoy the music of the late 60 and early 70s. I was a big Beatles fan, Like much of Hendrix and Joplin's music, but was not a big fan of Jim Morrison. Dylan grew on me as I got older. So this book was interesting in that it provided a great deal of information and filled in gaps in my musical history file. The books is well organized and has a nice collection of pictures. The suggested reading list is a nice touch.This book is not up to the normal Charles Rivers Editors (CRE) quality. While the writing is crisp,and the subject matter well covered, the formating flaws detract form what would of been a great CRE publication. I got this book primarily for the section on Lennon and McCartney and was not disappointed. It covers a lot of ground, was interesting, and entertaining. The only downside is it often seemed like many of the stories were written at different times then pieced together...that is, sometimes one paragraph will state something and the very next paragraph uses some identical sentences, as if the author had forgotten that it had just been said. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this book and recommend it for any Beatles fan!
